Monza, April 10, 2025,

The Historical Revival of the Coppa Milano–Sanremo is back, with around ninety vintage cars competing from today, Thursday, April 10, through Sunday, April 13. Over more than 1,000 kilometers, the competition will keep alive the passion and spirit of the gentlemen drivers who first envisioned it in 1906.

Today’s program began with the eagerly awaited return to the Monza National Circuit, where from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM the usual technical and sporting checks were carried out, along with open track sessions. These preceded the official start of the race, marked by the first challenging regularity trials, scheduled from 3:30 PM.

A highlight of the day was the debut of the Marline Collection bio-fuel at the Coppa Milano–Sanremo. Competing for the "Precision Driver" Award, each team participating in the initiative received 10 liters of Marline Collection fuel and demonstrated their precision by completing two timed laps of the circuit, trying to replicate their previous lap to the tenth of a second.

In the afternoon, the cars will head for the first time to Lake Iseo, where an exclusive visit to the Riva shipyard in Sarnico is planned — exceptionally open for the occasion.

The competition features some of the most prestigious names in historic motorsport, including Mario Passanante and Alessandro Molgora in a refined 1937 Lancia Aprilia, and Francesco and Giuseppe Di Pietra in a 1938 Fiat 508C. Andrea Zagato and Marella Rivolta are driving a stunning 1972 Lancia Fulvia Zagato Sport, adding authenticity and passion from the historic Zagato family.

Also taking part are Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli, winners of numerous regularity races, in a 1935 Fiat 508S. Enhancing the exclusivity of the Revival are rare and elegant vehicles such as the 1928 Bugatti Type 40 Grand Sport and the 1927 Bugatti Type 37A, icons of timeless elegance.

Tomorrow, Friday, April 11, the cars will depart from Riva Classiche shipyard – part of the Ferretti Group, which restores, maintains, and enhances classic Riva motorboats – and travel through the stunning Franciacorta region, where the first stage of the special trials will be held. After a stop for lunch at the historic Castle of Piovera in Tortona, the teams will continue toward the prestigious Porto Carlo Riva in Rapallo, honoring Carlo Riva from morning until evening on the second day of the race.

Saturday, April 12 will be the most challenging day, with over 300 kilometers of competition. The drivers will leave Rapallo and reach the heart of Genoa, parading through Piazza De Ferrari and in front of the Automobile Club of Genoa. They will then stop for lunch at the Yacht Club Marina di Loano, offering a relaxing break along the Ligurian coast.

“In 2025, the Coppa Milano–Sanremo will stop at Marina di Loano for the fifth time to celebrate this milestone,” said Gianluca Mazza, CEO of Marina di Loano. “We’ve chosen to further strengthen an already well-established partnership by offering a truly special prize to the third-place crew in the Legend category (1966–2000 vehicles). The winners will enjoy a weekend as our guests, choosing between an exclusive stay in the suites of the Yacht Club or a unique experience aboard one of our new high-tech houseboats — a chance to experience the hospitality and excellence we offer daily to all our guests.”

In the afternoon, the teams will arrive in Sanremo, where the cars will parade in front of the legendary Teatro Ariston. On Sunday morning, they will depart for Asti, home of the Asti DOCG Consortium, with a lunch break in the sumptuous Baroque halls of Palazzo Mazzetti. The final leg will take them to Milan, where the awards ceremony for the Coppa Milano–Sanremo will be held at the Automobile Club Milano headquarters in Corso Venezia, followed by the closing ceremony of the Campionato Grandi Eventi.

As tradition dictates, the “Coppa delle Dame” will also take place during this 16th edition — a tribute to the strong female participation in the early 20th century and the insight of the Coppa Milano–Sanremo’s original organizers.
